Bike rental in the Kiwi Valley

 

Rent your electric bike at the Tourist Office. From 1h to several days, the possibilities are wide and leave you the freedom to discover the Valley of the Kiwi at your leisure. 

Rates: 

The hour: 3€; half day: 8€; day: 15€; week: 100€; month: 300€. Optional equipment (helmets - phone holder - basket). 

Soon available: an offer adapted to the little ones with helmets and child seats, as well as a trailer

How to rent my bike: 

Where ? In the Peyrehorade office all year round.

When ? Opening hours of the office: All year (except July August): Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 2.00 to 5.30 July and August: Monday to Saturday from 9.30 to 1.00 and from 2.00 to 6.00; Sundays (between 14 July and 18 August) from 10.00 to 1.00.

The little extra Two bikes will also be available at Sorde l’Abbaye in July and August. Information and rental possible from Charlotte. Service available from July 9 to August 31 from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:30 to 13:30 and from 14:30 to 18:30.

Walk between Peyrehorade and the Abbey of Arthous

Between Peyrehorade and Hastingues - 10KM; Accessible route VTC and MTB 

 

 

Leaving Peyrehorade, head for Hastingues and follow the Gaves Réunis to the bastide, where you can stop to visit the village. Then head for Arthous Abbey, one of the must-see sites in the Kiwi Valley. Finally, head back towards Peyrehorade. You'll see kiwi orchards along the way. I'm discovering this walk.

Walk between the Kiwi Valley and the Bidache Country

Between Peyrehorade, Bidache and Hastingues - 35KM; Accessible route VTC and MTB 

 

From Peyrehorade, head for Oeyregave, then join the towpath along the Bidouze from Came. You can stop off at Bidache to visit the Château de Gramont. Continue on to Guiche and Sames. In summer, take a refreshing break by their lakes. Then on to Hastingues, an ancient fortified town well worth a visit. Then return to Peyrehorade along the Gaves Réunis. Bike ride to discover the lakes of Glés and Lahontan

Between Peyrehorade, Lahontan and Labatut - 37KM; Accessible route VTC and MTB

  

Starting from Peyrehorade, discover the villages of Lahontan, Labatut, Saint-Cricq du Gave, Sorde l'Abbaye and Oeyregave. Points of interest: Lac de Lahontan, Labatut and Lac des Glés, where you can take a refreshing break, Sorde l'Abbaye, its heritage trail and abbey, and the many kiwi orchards along the way. Be careful on the section following the Route Royale to Labatut: many trucks use this route (between July and October). I'm discovering this walk.

 

 

Walk between the Kiwi Valley and Léren

Between Peyrehorade, Sorde l'Abbaye, Léren and Oeyregave; Route only accessible to mountain bikes

 

 

Take half a day to make the most of this loop. From Peyrehorade, head for Sorde l'Abbaye. You can stop off in the heart of the bastide to visit the Abbaye de Sorde. Then follow part of the route de Saint-Jaques de Compostelle to the commune of Léren. Then head back up towards Oeyregave, where you can admire kiwi orchards along the way. Difficulty varies according to the weather. I'm discovering this walk.

Walk on the Scandibérique

Between Orist, Saubusse, Port de Lanne, Orthevielle and Peyrehorade - 27KM; Accessible by VTC and MTB

 

From Orist, head for the spa town of Saubusse to join the Scandibérique. Ride down the Adour along the towpath to the Port de Lanne bridge. Then pass through the charming village of Orthevielle. Our route ends in Peyrehorade, at the railway station. I'm discovering this walk.

Walk between the Kiwi Valley and the Béarn des Gaves

Between Sorde l'Abbaye, Saint-Cricq du Gave and Carresse Cassaber - 26KM; Route only accessible to mountain bikes

 

From Sorde l'Abbaye, head for Saint-Cricq du Gave. On the way, stop off at Kiwis Délices to buy your kiwi juice and jam. You'll pass many kiwi orchards. Continue downhill towards Carresse Cassaber, then back on the road towards Sorde l'Abbaye. Take the opportunity to visit the Abbaye de Sorde, located in the heart of the bastide. Difficulty varies according to weather conditions. More technical section of the Santiago de Compostela route. I'm discovering this ride.

Mountain bike tour to discover the Kiwi Valley

Between Peyrehorade, Bélus and Cauneille - 25KM; Route only accessible to mountain bikes

 

 

 

From Peyrehorade, take the Empereur hiking trail to Hilh dou Moulié, then head for Bélus. Then descend to Cauneille and Peyrehorade. Difficulty varies according to the weather. I'm discovering this circuit.

Discover the Gaves and Adour mountain bike trails

Between Peyrehorade, Orthevielle and Port de Lanne - 24KM; Route only accessible to mountain bikes

 

  

From Peyrehorade, head for Orthevielle and Port de Lanne. Ride down the Adour towards Bec du Gave. Then follow the Gaves réunis to Peyrehorade. Many kiwi yards can be seen along the way. Difficulty varies according to the weather. I'm discovering this circuit.


Scandibérique : 

EuroVélo n°3 or Scandibérique links Trondheim (Norway) to Santiago de Compostela (Spain), crossing six European countries. In France, there are more than 1,700 kilometers of road to follow.

In the Kiwi Valley, the route can be reached in two places:

- at the Marquèze bridge, between Pey and Josse

 

- at the Adour bridge, between Port de Lanne and Sainte-Marie de Gosse.

The ride in Pays d'Orthe

Between Peyrehorade, Orthevielle, Port de Lanne, Orist, Saint-Lon-les-Mines, Cagnotte, Labatut and Sorde l'Abbaye

From the Place du Foirail de Peyrehorade, head towards Orthevielle and then Port de Lanne. Continue alternating agricultural areas, kiwi fields and orchards that occupy the valleys. Cross Saint-Etienne d'Orthe and Orist to arrive at Saint-Lon-les-Mines. Immerse yourself in the valley of Peyrehorade and its rich historical heritage by crossing the municipalities of Cagnotte and Labatut.

La Chalosse Méridionale

Between Pouillon, Gaas, Mimbaste, Estibeaux and Habas

From the municipal stadium of Pouillon, go towards Gaas and then Heugas. The circuit continues towards Dax and the Adour Valley, along the barths, swampy meadows so named because located in the major bed of the Adour and covered by water in case of flood of the river. Then continue to Mimbaste, Estibeaux and Habas to return to Pouillon.
