Tourist tax: an obligation to apply from 1 January 2022
Since 1 January 2022, the tourist tax applies to all 24 municipalities that make up the Community of Communes of the Pays d'Orthe and Arrigans. The tourist accommodation is subject to the tourist tax which is charged directly to the persons staying. The host and intermediaries (Airbnb, Booking, Abritel, Gîtes de France, etc), are responsible for collecting this tax from the tourist and remittance to the community. All individuals or professionals who offer accommodation for rent are concerned: palaces, tourist hotels, furnished tourism, holiday villages, guest houses, pitches in camping-areastourist cars and parking lots, campgrounds, caravan sites and any other outdoor accommodation site, Recreational harbours, accommodation awaiting classification and accommodation without classification which do not fall within the categories of accommodation mentioned above. The tourist tax will provide the territory with better funding to improve its attractiveness and develop its tourism outreach. It will also promote the protection and management of its natural areas for tourism purposes.
Terms of the tourist tax
The tourist tax is paid by any person over 18 years of age who stays in the territory of the Community of Communes of the Pays d'Orthe and Arrigans.
Are exempt or not subject to the tourist tax:
- minors
- holders of a seasonal employment contract employed in the territory
- Persons receiving emergency accommodation or temporary relocation
- persons who occupy premises free of charge or whose daily rent is less than 1€
- persons domiciled in the commune who are staying in an establishment of the same commune
A free dedicated web portal
In order to provide the best support for each host, the Community of Communes of the Pays d'Orthe et Arrigans is launching a free internet portal entitled “Tourist tax in the Pays d'Orthe et Arrigans”: https://taxe.3douest.com/paysdortheetarrigans.php
This portal offers the possibility to all hosts, whether they are members or not of the Tourist Office of the Pays d'Orthe and Arrigans, to proceed with all stages of the obligation of application, collection, remittance of the tourist tax as well as tools for calculating the tax.
