Port de Lanne’s history is closely tied to the river. It had significant freight business until the 20th century and was a fishing, ferry and barge port for a long time (as witnessed by the presence of a museum with the same name – the Musée de la Batelerie).
This river theme can be explained by the fact that the Adour and the Gaves Réunis meet at Port de Lanne, by the Bec du Gave, along which a magnificent château was built.
