Located south of the Gaves Réunis, Oeyregave has fantastic views of the Gaves Réunis, the town of Peyrehorade and the plains surrounding it. The village is unique in that it has two main hamlets, connected by a steep street lined with old houses - "Oeyrebas" is typical of a peaceful Landes village surrounding Saint Marie’s Church. To the west on the hillside, "Oeyrehaut", once surrounded by ramparts that have since vanished, defended the passage between the two riverbanks, in the same way as Aspremont Hill in Peyrehorade facing it.
