A land of valleys, hillsides and plateaus, Cauneille is known for is numerous kiwi orchards, adding to the classic crops such as corn/maize and grapes since 1968.
The village was a major stop for Santiago de Compostela pilgrims, as witnessed by the 14th century "Passager" (travellers’) house. The "Jacquaires" came from the north (Cagnotte) and continued their pilgrimage south (Sorde l'Abbaye) by taking a ferry across the Gave river.
